Among the numerous communities affected, the Chakma community of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) faced a unique set of challenges. Despite their efforts to become part of India, the Chakmas were ultimately incorporated into Pakistan, a decision they continue to mourn and protest.  Efforts to Join India On 14th July 1947, the Chakma community submitted a memorandum to the Bengal Boundary Commission, expressing their desire to join India. Why coconut so much important in every Chakma Social or Religious Ceremonies ? Coconut is called NariKul in Chakma , which is composition of two words NARI mean WOMEN and HUL mean HEAD i,e head of women . No ceremonies are being performe without Coconut , the present of coconut is mandatory in to perform social and religious ceremonies . Untold History of Chittagong Hill Tracts and Indigenous People and CHT Peace Accord

The indigenous peoples of Chittagong Hill Tracts has longest history. According to documents and evidence they were first settlers of CHT . CHT fought for long time to protect and preserve their unique identities . For example the Chakmas of Chittagong Hill Tracts retaliated against the aggression of Mughal and the East India Company with guerrilla warfare .
